Stunning Blog Design With An Easy To Use Backend

OSG is a blog about fashion, beauty and lifestyle with an emphasis on ordinary shaped girls. Megan noticed the mainstream fashion outlets focussing on skinny models and, more recently, plus sized models, meaning everyone in the middle was left out: the ordinary shaped girls.

As she puts it, the ordinary shaped girl has lumps and bumps in some places and none in others. The girls with wide hips and small busts. The girls with skinny legs but big bums.

Megan’s blog is for all those girls, helping them find the best items for their shapes and reviewing items so they don’t have to waste money or time returning products.

With a blog mainly focussed around visuals, it was important we created a homepage that really popped with the use of a hero image and a sophisticated design.

Loosely basing the design feel on a magazine or newspaper, we managed to create a feeling of professionalism which also paired well with the colour and font choices.

The design allows for users to quickly navigate to an area of interest or intrigue without being overcrowded or cluttered which benefits the user experience.

As a blogger within the fashion and beauty industry, a large majority of OSG’s posts are based on discussing the pro’s and con’s of certain products for the ordinary shaped girl.

As a result, some affiliate links are used for the products that OSG feels are suitable and beneficial to her target audience.

Instead of simply putting the links within the blog post, it was found to be beneficial to have a central repository where users could browse all the tried and tested products promoted by OSG.

This allows users to navigate straight to the products if they’ve already read the posts, rather than have to re-scan entire posts to find what they’re looking for.

A clean and sophisticated design exuding expertise in the topic and subject matter, with a focus on the beautiful and high quality visuals produced by OSG.

Social integrations throughout the website to enable community building across several platforms and easy sharing functionality for readers in order to reach a wider audience.

Affiliate integration on both blog posts and a shop page. A novel method of increasing affiliate income whilst also being user friendly and beneficial to readers.

Stunningly simple blog post design, keeping focus on the content and encouraging users to stay on the site, improving search engine signals and building authority.

I wanted something different from everything else that was out there and Alt Premier designed my dream blog. It was exactly what I wanted and more!

The thought, consideration and aftercare put in is next to none. I love that I can pick different layout depending on what I’m writing about and how easy my new blog is to navigate.

It’s so much better than my old blog design and so easy to use on the backend as well. I just drop in my text and images and it looks so good on the website.
